Dream is over: Diyarbakir Photo Exhibition / Oct. 6th-Nov.3rd 2016

The exhibition will show part of my photographic work from Diyarbakir and the conflict in war torn south-east Anatolia. It is a joint cooperatin together with Reporters without Borders. The exhibition is part of the European Month of Photography in Berlin, whose jury I would like to thank for inviting me to EMOP.
Open at the Berlin Atlier für Photographie from Thursday oct. 6th to Thursday nov. 3rd. The photographs will be shown together with audio documentation and other testimonies from the field.

From the EMOP press announcement: „In October of 2015, Martin Gerner was one of the few independent reporters to document the armed conflict between Kurdish fighters and the Erdoğan government over Diyarbakir. Loss and suffering among the civilian population are the focus of his photographs. ‘Even then it was clear,’ says Gerner, ‘that each photo was also a sign and evidence for freedom of speech and the press.’ Since that time, hundreds of civilians have been killed in the fighting, while tens of thousands have been forced to flee.
