Asylum Europe: Moria Revisited

Allerweltskino is attempting an experiment: True to the radio motto “Radio is cinema for the mind,” we are presenting a feature-length radio program in line with our usual critical and topical selection of subjects.
The radio feature “The Fire in Moria and Europe’s Failure” by Cologne-based journalist and author Martin Gerner revives the disaster surrounding Europe’s largest refugee camp on the Greek tourist island of Lesbos. With the voices of many of those affected and previously unprocessed background information, his documentary names those responsible at the EU level who have yet to be held accountable.
The feature gives a voice to many of those affected and eyewitnesses from the Moria refugee camp, who talk about their traumas and fears. “We lost many residents in Moria through death and murder,” says one of their spokespeople. “There was repeated extreme violence. But no one outside cared. People died without anyone taking notice.”
Director Martin Gerner will be present and will talk about his work on Lesbos and in Moria after the feature.
